Maximize This Day

"This is the day the Lord has made." God determines
the number of your days, but you determine how they are spent. The Psalmist, David,
said, "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Yesterday is a cancelled check, tomorrow is a promissory note and today is all you’ve got.
And you can begin your life over today, if you live by these words: "Today I will
delete from my diary two days – yesterday and tomorrow. Yesterday was for learning;
tomorrow will be a consequence of what I do today. Today I will face life with the
conviction that this day will never return, that it may be the last opportunity
I’ll have to contribute because there’s no guarantee I’ll see tomorrow. Today I
will be courageous enough not to let opportunity pass me by; my only alternative
will be to succeed. Today I will invest my most valuable resource, my time, into
my most important possession – the life God has given me. I’ll spend each minute purposefully,
making today a unique opportunity. I’ll tackle each obstacle, knowing that with
God’s help, I can overcome it. Today I will resist doubt and pessimism and warm
my world with a smile. I’ll maintain a strong faith, expect nothing but the best,
take time to be happy, see every task as an opportunity to honor God and endeavor
to leave His footprints on the hearts of those I meet." John Boykin wrote, "Time
is your life – nothing more and nothing less. The way you spend your hours and your
days is the way you spend your life." So pray, "Lord, help me to maximize this day."

Stop Waiting for Perfect Conditions

I read from ‘The Word for You Today’ each AM; it’s a booklet that is free for the taking from our church and is published quarterly with a short reading for each day.  I meant to share this with the family back in December but forgot to.  (Their website is wordforyou.com .  They publish over 16M copies in 15 languages each yr; they promote the sharing of it with everyone)

Stop Waiting for Perfect Conditions

Too many of us stand on the dock waiting.  We want the ship in place, the gangplank perfectly positioned, the weather right, and an engraved invitation before we’re willing to launch out.  It will never happen.  Dreams don’t move toward us, we have to move toward them.  One author writes:  “It’s time to quit waiting for perfection, inspiration, permission, reassurance, someone to change, the right person to come along, the kids to leave home, the new administration to take over, an absence of risk, someone to discover you, a clear set of instructions, more self-confidence, or the pain to go away.
Instead of saying, ‘We’ve never done it before,’ say, ‘We have the opportunity to be first.’
Instead of saying, ‘We don’t have the resources.’ say, ‘Necessity fuels invention.’
Instead of saying, ‘There’s not enough time,’ say, ‘We’ll change how we work.’
Instead of saying, ‘We’ve already tried that,’ say, ‘We learned from experience.’
Instead of saying, ‘We don’t have the expertise,’ say, ‘Let’s network with those who do.’
Instead of saying, ‘Our vendors and customers won’t go for it,’ say, ‘Let’s show them the opportunities.’
Instead of saying, ‘We don’t have enough money,’ say, ‘Maybe’s there’s something we can cut.’
Instead of saying, ‘We’re understaffed,’ say, ‘We’re a lean, hungry team.’
Instead of saying, ‘It’ll never get any better,’ say, ‘We’ll try one more time.’
Instead of saying, ‘Let somebody else deal with it,’ say, ‘I’m ready to learn something new.’
Instead of saying, ‘It’s not my job,’ say, ‘I’ll be glad to take the responsibility.’
Instead of saying, ‘I can’t,’ say, ‘By God’s grace, I can!’

Martin’s Recovery is Miraculous

It must be all those prayers that everyone has been sending, or maybe it is just Martin’s own inner strength?  It is both, I would say.

He is doing very well today, and we would like to share this update:

“Marty is sitting up and has just had a complete meal!!!!!!!

He continues to improve, is making slow but steady progress and will be moved out of the ICU later today!!!!!!!

Marty says, ‘THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS’!!!!”

A quiet time for Martin

I hope and pray for your speedy and full recovery, Martin!
